關羽急命馬童進古城向劉備、張飛報信。張飛因關羽久居曹營，恐此來有詐，遂拒絕收容，時蔡陽追兵已到，關羽斬蔡陽以自明，張飛乃釋疑，迎關入城，遂夜入關羽書房賠禮道歉，兄弟和好如初。
